2013 FOUNDERS' GALA
On June 7, 2013, The Westchester Clubmen celebrated Motown at its historic Founders' Gala, honoring:
Phillana Williams With a name that rings notorious in the male dominated world of true music elite, Phillana Williams is a source of power and influence that echoes across the music globe. Already establishing herself as one of the most respected record label executives today, Phillana has yet again taken the music industry by storm with the creation of TPF Management (The Phillana Factor). Introduced to the music industry at the age of 14 as an aspiring artist in her hometown of Houston, Texas; it wasn’t until after receiving a degree in journalism at the University of Houston, and landing a job at Atlanta’s Hot 97.5, that her music aspirations grew to include much more. While at Hot 97.5, Phillana and others developed the unique concept of an all female event planning company, launching Girl 6 Entertainment. |
Capitalizing on the buzz she was creating in the music industry, Phillana took a temporary position at LaFace Records with the label’s General Manager, Dorsey James. Before long, she caught the attention of label President, LA Reid.
In 2000, Phillana became the Director of Marketing at Arista Records and continued on to become the label’s Vice President of Urban Marketing in 2003. Continuing to fill positions where women were known to be far few between, Phillana went on to become Vice President of Urban Marketing at Zomba Label Group, and from there transitioned to Island Def Jam.
Under TPF Management, Phillana has played an integral part in managing and guiding successful careers of Ciara and Estelle. Currently Phillana manages breakthrough artist and Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Miguel who has had an outstanding year.
Phillana has also been recently appointed to Senior Vice President, Marketing & Artist Development for Motown Records. In this post, Williams will be taking on a unique marketing and A&R role where she will be involved in the overall development of new signings, as well as working to further excel the careers of global superstars. Williams resides in New York with her daughter and son.
